The Pros and Cons of a Neck Knife

A Neck knife is a knife that a person wears around his/her neck. Sometimes the knife is worn around the neck with a cord, a string, a chain and sometimes with a lanyard which is the best way to go. It can either be hanged with its blade pointed upwards or the other way round with its blade pointed downwards. A neck knife is usually small or middle-sized which you can carry with you almost anywhere. A neck knife can be used as a weapon and as a self-defense tool as well.

Wherever you are, if you ever face a dangerous situation you can pull out this knife and protect yourself against your assailant. And even if you face an emergency situation like a car crash or something, you will have access to a blade that can be used as a utility tool so that you can use the blade for other tasks of daily routine than just fighting with it. This makes a neck knife a very good tool that one can carry around with oneself. But hey, don’t be too fast. Let us have a look at the pros and cons of a neck knife in order to judge in a better way if it is as effective and suitable as it seems.

Pros of Carrying a Neck Knife

  • Carrying a neck knife inside your shirt allows you to stealthily carry a weapon with you at all times which will prove to be quite useful in any critical and emergency situation.
  • Carrying a neck knife inside your shirt will make you your own defender and will prevent people from scaring off from you as people usually tend to get scared when they see someone with a weapon. In this case, the knife will be concealed and hidden, which will give you some relaxation.
  • Even if you don’t choose to wear it inside your shirt and rather prefer wearing it outside your shirt, you will still have the benefit of quick access of your neck knife.
  • Carrying a neck knife around your neck will free your pockets so that you can carry your other essentials there.
  • Neck knives mostly come in comfortable sheaths which protect you against accidental injuries from the knife.
  • Neck knives are light-weighted and small.
  • It is quite easy to sharpen a neck knife with a pocket knife sharpener because of its small size.

Cons of Carrying a Neck Knife

The following are the cons of carrying a neck knife with you:

  • People can identify that you are hiding something under your shirt, especially if you are wearing a shirt of thin fabric.
  • It can be annoying to have something dangling from your neck.
  • Carrying a neck knife outside your shirt will provide you quick access to the knife but it will scare people away from you as it will be pretty much obvious that you are carrying a knife around your neck.
  • And if you choose to wear your neck knife inside your shirt then it will become hard to access it especially when you need it fast and can’t afford to waste time.

Above-mentioned are the pros and cons of a neck knife and now it’s up to you to decide if a neck knife is the one for you or not!
